Office IT
Office IT includes all devices, components and accessories that are used for general office activities. This includes computers, laptops, tablets, smartphones, monitors, printers, mice, keyboards and more.
Special equipment, sensors and the like, which are used in particular in the laboratory environment and in measurement technology, are not included.
In this context, the ITMC provides the following services:
Troubleshooting / Maintenance
All IT devices must be regularly updated in order to comply with new IT security findings and to install improvements. This is now almost all done automatically, so that users no longer have to ask about it or make appointments. This means that maintenance runs largely in the background and the devices are always up to date with the latest versions of the operating systems and applications.
If a device no longer functions as desired and as usual or shows phenomena that indicate a malfunction or a defect, we check the device, determine the cause of the error and, if possible, eliminate it.
Delivery of Workplace Equipment
Workstation devices are delivered with a basic configuration, but this is never sufficient for them to be easily used by the end users immediately at their workstation. For this reason, the ordered devices are received directly at the ITMC and then configured according to the policies, structures and specifications of the TU Dortmund University. The software required individually for your workstation is also installed before being transported to the actual workstation. There, the cabling and commissioning is carried out together with the user.

Office Consulting / Training
The ITMC offers help with Office programs and provides regular training on them.
Printer Management
In most cases today, network printers are used instead of desktop printers for economic reasons. These are each intended for certain organisational areas and certain user groups. In order for this process to work, the ITMC takes care of setting up and operating the corresponding print servers as well as creating and managing the user groups. The monitoring of toner levels and the timely initiation of reorders are also part of this service.
