OH12: By Car

The easiest way to reach the main building of the ITMC is via the freeway A45 from the exit "Dortmund-Eichlinghofen". Turn right there onto Universitätsstraße. At the next set of traffic lights, continue straight ahead and turn left at the next junction onto Hauert Straße. At the first traffic light turn right onto Otto-Hahn-Straße. After about 300 m you will reach the ITMC building (on the left side of the street). The parking spaces on the parking lanes along the street are mostly occupied. A smaller - mostly also occupied - parking lot is located on Joseph-von-Fraunhofer-Straße (entrance 36). A larger parking lot is located about 250 m further on Otto-Hahn-Straße (entrance 30).

From Dortmund main station, take S-Bahn line 1 in the direction of Bochum/Essen to the Dortmund Universität stop (journey time approx. 7 minutes).
From Bochum Hauptbahnhof, take S-Bahn line 1 in the direction of Dortmund to the Dortmund Universität stop (journey time approx. 15 minutes).

You can reach the building on foot in about 15 minutes from the S-Bahn station. Walk up the wide staircase of the S-Bahn station. Turn left along the university library, cross the Mensa bridge and continue straight ahead. At Martin-Schmeißer-Platz turn left until you reach Otto-Hahn-Straße. There, keep to the right and continue along Otto-Hahn-Straße until you reach house number 12.

EF50: By Car

The easiest way to reach this branch is via the A45 freeway from the "Dortmund-Eichlinghofen" exit. Turn right there onto Universitätsstraße. At the next set of traffic lights, continue straight ahead and turn left at the next junction onto Hauert Straße. At the second set of traffic lights, turn right onto Emil-Figge-Straße. Continue on this street until you reach the next crossing with traffic lights. There you will find the parking spaces closest to the building. You will reach the smaller one (entrance 21) if you turn right into Vogelpothsweg. If you want to use the large parking lot (entrance 18), continue straight ahead on Emil-Figge-Straße.

From Dortmund main station, take S-Bahn line 1 in the direction of Bochum/Essen to the Dortmund Universität stop (journey time approx. 7 minutes).
From Bochum Hauptbahnhof, take S-Bahn line 1 in the direction of Dortmund to the Dortmund Universität stop (journey time approx. 15 minutes).

You can reach the building on foot in about 1 minute from the S-Bahn station. Walk up the wide staircase of the S-Bahn station. Just in front of you is the large building Emil-Figge-Straße 50. Use the footpath that leads straight towards it in the direction of the stairs.

The facilities of TU Dortmund University are spread over two campuses, the larger Campus North and the smaller Campus South. Additionally, some areas of the university are located in the adjacent “Technologiepark”.

Scam mail with the subject "Are you free?" allegedly from supervisor/colleague.

Please delete this mail and do not reply.

Scam e-mails purporting to be from a superior or colleague with the subject "Are you free?" are currently circulating again. Delete them immediately. The mails do not originate from TU, but from a Mail.ru account, which we have now blocked.
The attackers use information from the TU's website to set up the mail address's plain name in such a way that the mail looks plausible.
The plain name of a mail can contain any text, just like the sender of a physical letter, e.g. "Olaf Scholz". There is no technical way, other than using signed mails with certificates, to prevent this. Unfortunately, many mail programs, such as Outlook, no longer display the mail address if a plain name is specified in the mail header. It is also easy to forge sender addresses, however, we now observe more often that people do not take the trouble and just forge the plain name.
However, in Outlook you can switch on the display of the sender address permanently for a folder in the overview:
View - Add Columns - New Column - "Formula" - Add "[searchfromemail]" and group it appropriately with "up".
In the Thunderbird mail program, this functionality is easier to implement via the "Full Address column" add-on.
Incidentally, the attackers' scam is well known. After contacting them, the attacker tries to persuade the victims to purchase vouchers for their superiors, e.g. for Amazon. In such cases (payments/solicitations from superiors) we always advise to have it confirmed on an independent channel by phone.
