New internal TU website "ITMC SpeedTest" available
The ITMC has launched a new website for speed tests of LAN or WLAN connections within the university network.
Via http://speedtest.itmc.tu-dortmund.de/, an initial assessment of the various parameters of the end device can be made via a browser, regardless of the device.
Ping, jitter, upload and download to a server in the ITMC data center are tested.
The test results are saved and can be sent to the service desk for further analysis via a test ID.
We are aware that testing these parameters via a browser is always a compromise, but we would still like to make this low-threshold tool available to you.
Please note that you should not access the website in encrypted form via HTTPS, as the CPU of the end device can be the limiting factor in encrypted transmission and falsify the measurement results.
The same problem also applies to test runs in which a VPN connection is active.
