Repair Café at TU Dortmund University

Is your zipper stuck, your bike chain coming off, or has your old computer become too slow for Windows? Before you throw these things away, it’s worth stopping by the new Repair Café at TU Dortmund University. It kicks off on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Hylec, the co-learning space at Joseph-von-Fraunhofer-Straße 18.

After that, it continues on a regular basis:

Every first Wednesday of the month, students and university staff can bring in items that no longer work properly and work with others to find a solution. The range of items is wide, from an old laptop that can be brought back to life with Linux, to a bicycle, to clothing that just needs a few stitches. The necessary equipment is provided, and anyone who’s stuck gets help from people who know what they’re doing. Those who repair instead of buying new not only save money and resources but also learn something new along the way.

The Repair Café is organized by the University Library in collaboration with the Sustainability Office at TU Dortmund University.
